I am a big fan of indie brands for liquid lipsticks because of their range of color choices and price point, but being a gullible and makeup addict I am I went and bought some of SmashBox’s new Always On Matte Liquid Lipsticks. I’ve been seeing youtube videos and pictures on instagram with decent reviews, so that lured me into a little splurge. The colors I wanted to were Stepping Out, Chill Zone, Girl Gang, and Miss Conduct. Stepping Out a nudie brown color was sold out on smashbox.com and sephora.com; and I decided not to get Chill Zone because $24 for a fun color is not worth wearing it a couple of times. The best part of getting these liquid lipsticks was Sephora sent me an email that if I spend $50 I get this little cute set of YSL mini set of lipstick, liner and gloss! I was sold because I have heard people rave about their lipsticks. Along with my order I redeemed 500 VIB pts for a Laura Mercier set which included the translucent powder, foundation primer, matte radiance baked powder, rose nourishing oil, and last but not least a lip gloss. One last thing I did was subscribe to Sephora’s $10 a year for 2day shipping, that is an awesome deal! My ordered arrived 2 business days later, gotta love fast shipping.

Now on to the reviews:

Smashbox Girlgang Matte Liquid Lipstick Review: 

• Price: $24
• Made in Italy
• Size: .13oz/4ml
• Possible Dupe: Colourpop Ultra Satin: Panda($6) , Dose of Colors Matte: Berry Me 2 ($18) I actually boughtGirl Gang as a better long-wear, transferproof formula than the dupes I named and I also do own. These colors complement my skin tone, and I get compliments on the color. (when you get a compliment or asked where you buy it, it was money well spent)
• Long Lasting: 5 hrs, when you eat anything the inner lip will come off
• Non-Drying: A little drying, but a nice smooth matte. After removing it, my lips feel dry and wrinkly
• Transfer-Proof: 80% if you kiss your hand it will transfer a little each time. If you pecked someone it will be ok
• Non-Peeling: A little bit in the inner lip
• Color Choices: A decent range of berry colors and few fun colors
• Non-Staining: Does stain a little, and a mess to remove (clown lips)
• Scent: Has a light fragrance, smells just like Stila Stay All Liquid Lipsticks, and Sephora’s Liquid Lipsticks
• Applicator: A diamond shaped applicator with a pointed end and hallow center that grabs a good amount of product. I like the pointed part to line the lips but because the liquid lipstick is creamy it kinda slips and slides making it harder for me to get a nice crisp lip line. Will take some pratice.

• Notes: When I get a liquid lipstick the first thing I would do is swatch it and smell it, because the scent is important to me. The scent is exactly the same as Stila’s Liquid lipstick ($24) – in texture, Made in Italy, and same wear time. So my guess is they are made from the same lab as well as the Sephora brand liquid lipsticks. The main difference is the different colors choices each brand offers. So if you are a fan of Stila or Sephora liquid lipsticks ($14) you will like this formula.

 

Smashbox Miss Conduct Matte Liquid Lipstick Review: 

• Price: $24
• Made in Italy
• Size: .13oz/4ml
• Possible Dupe: Colourpop Ultra Matte Rooch ($6) Anastasia Beverly Hills Heathers ($20) I bought Miss Conduct as a better long-wear formula than Rooch. Rooch is much more drying and gets slightly flakey after a few hours. Both colors I have gotten compliments on.
